Jason Goes to Hell Mask Up For Auction at PropStore

This is a LW-101 resin stunt mask created during production of Jason Goes to Hell by FX artist Bill Hunt and worn by the dummy that took the chest stab at the end of the film. This is up for auction at PropStore. Last photos are of the dummy with the mask on, taken on set in 1992 and a more recent photo of the same dummy when the mask was still on it. The mask will come with a COA from The Friday the 13th Prop Museum (Mario Kirner), who  previously owned the mask.

Really cool video of special FX artist Tom Bellisimo talking about the mask he just sold for a whopping $225,000 at the Prop Store auction today. He gives a few details about the explosion effect as well.

A New Screen-Used Mask Appears on Market

 

This one is up for auction soon. It was used briefly in the intro of the movie where the squib explodes on the forehead area when Jason is struck by a bullet. It was later gifted to a crew member, to whom Kane wrote a personalized autograph--unfortunately, on the front of the mask. It is still expected to go for at least $20,000 at auction.

It's also the mask you see on the cover of the Jason Goes to Hell fanzine that was released with the movie. Super cool piece of history.

HSS Hell revamp

Here is my HSS Hell that I've had for a couple of years. It's 6 of 20. I repainted it 3 times and finally have it in a place I am really satisfied with.

Those familiar with the Hell know that there was a small "shrink" problem, that prevented the mask from being properly fitted with a standard size hockey mask. Using a Fiberglassmasks 9, likely cast from a leftover movie-mold hock, I re-sculpted the eye holes with epoxy sculpt and had it scanned by a 3D printing service. We then reduced the mask about 15% (about a half inch all around) in order to get a tight fit. The 3D print was made with black ABS like the movie masks and really came out great.

All he really needs now is hair.

HSS Hell repaint

I didn't care for the original paintjob, which had a dime store mask look to it with a high contrast purple-airbrush shadowing job, so I used a few screen caps and brought it closer to the movie design. I only kept the skull face and the strap compressions the same color, since I liked the purplish color as a bruise caused by tight mask straps. Once it has a solid paint job, the HSS Hell is a great piece to have in your collection. This look is one of my favorite Jason designs, so its great to have a movie mold piece.
