Part 6 Hero Mask

Just finished a keeper for myself. This is on a Fiberglassmasks.com Part 6 mask, from Bob's new mold derived from the back of an old Nightowl Part 6, itself, pulled from a production-made Part 6 mask. As far as I can tell, this is the most accurate Part 6 blank you can get.

  1. Great job, Jason! Any tips that you’re willing to share? Btw, I bought that HUD from you, a few years ago. Still enjoying it.

  2. The basecoat is basically Krylon summer wheat, which is hard to find but easy enough to reproduce with acrylics; the weathering is just burnt umber. Glad you love the HUD, I loved it for many years :D

  3. I know the hero was painted with oil paints and the dot method was used basically going around the mask building layers with oil paints then dipping brush in mineral spirits and brushing in various directions on mask. Yours weathering is really good using acrylics I think it's easier with oils. Thanks for sharing!

  4. Thanks, dude. Been visiting this blog for 10 years or so, now. Massive fan. Yeah, I added an accurate shirt to the HUD, which really brought it alive.
